Gay Games Hong Kong 2023 are less than 100 days away now! Gay Portal News

How time flies! It’s been more than 5 years since Hong Kong won the right to stage the first-ever Gay Games to be held in Asia. Since then, hundreds of dedicated volunteers have been working hard to plan, prepare and implement an extensive Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023 programme. With 100 days until G-Day, we’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that this year’s GGHK is a welcoming, inclusive, fun and memorable experience for anyone and everyone, regardless of sexual orientation.

We’re also sending out a big “HOLA!” and positive vibes to our co-host city Guadalajara in Mexico, which is staging the first Gay Games in Latin America and is part of the first-ever co-hosting arrangement for a Gay Games.

This is what we are dedicating our time, energy and love to delivering for the LGBTQ+ community, for Hong Kong, for Asia and the world from November 3-11:

  • A unique and memorable Opening Ceremony created and delivered by our world-class Hong Kong talent, featuring artists from all over
  • An engaging, fun and memorable Games Village, which will be open to the public and will include an “exclusive” zone for GGHK participants and supporters
  • An action-packed programme of sporting events, including Dragon Boat Racing, Mahjong and Dodgeball which add a particular Hong Kong flavour to the events calendar
  • An eclectic, exciting and memorable arts and culture programme featuring performers from Hong Kong, Asia-Pacific, the UK, and the US.

We must also thank our sponsors and the wide range of community groups and organisations that have supported us to get this far and will continue to work with us until the last day of the competition. This includes our partners from various sporting organisations, the arts and cultural sector, community and events groups and international chambers of commerce.
We would like to thank the Equal Opportunities Commission for its support in breaking down barriers and promoting the values of acceptance, tolerance and inclusiveness in Hong Kong. Your support is much appreciated.

So, stay tuned for more updates as we head into the home stretch of preparations and race towards the finish line of delivering the first Gay Games in Asia here in Hong Kong, an international melting pot of people, cultures and memorable events and experiences!

Exploring the Power of Inclusion at GGHK’s “Diversity in Sports” Conference

Our goal for the Games has always been to educate people through sports, arts & culture. The Corporate Athletes Conference in June explored how competitive sports could foster a culture of excellence, resilience, and well-being in the corporate world while highlighting the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in sports and corporate settings. We were joined by Scottish football star Zander Murray and a star-studded panel of inspiring speakers, who dove deep into their own difficult conversations and personal stories, sharing information to help build a future of inclusion in sports.
